Maximalist minimalism and repetition. Without or with psychedelics. You think the same thing is happening over and over, you forget, then BAM the tiniest change makes you feel tingly and everything is different. A slow low tuba comes in and makes me ball. As a kid I used to cringe at Glass. Remember the diamonds are forever commercial? Well guess what? They are for forever and Glass reminds us. 💎
I love to share my things with the people I love. However, minimalist music can be a hard sell. This is unfairly due to the deceptive genre name, and fairly due to the repetitive nature of this genre. The scope is intimidating— I listen to him mostly on airplanes or while I’m working. It’s worth giving this kind of music an honest shot. Nobody on Earth makes me feel the way Philip Glass does.
This is a great intro to modern/neo-classical with an electronic twist. Try to find live recordings of his songs "Says" and "Said and Done" - the first one is basically a study in build-build-build-build and the second unfolds around the repetition of one single note. They both give me goosebumps every single time. Recommend headphones (or big speakers) and giving it your full attention.
Duh. There are lots of resources out there. It's a great way to stop complaining about work, create solidarity between your co-workers and fight Capitalism. Just sayin'.
Especially the fruity ones. They come in the best designed case for candy--it's like pill popping or a cigarette lighter. If you don't smoke, go outside with the smokers and have some. Offer them, and carefully pour and shake them into their palm.
No measurements: blanch a shit ton of spinach--you can even use frozen in a pinch. At the same time, put a shit ton of olive oil in a pan on medium to low heat and lightly brown 8-15 garlic cloves (also a shit ton). Strain the spinach and blend in a blender, or food processor, with the garlic in olive oil until it's green and creamy. Salt and pepper to taste. If you're feeling fancy, add lemon zest. It's hard for it to not taste amazing no matter the measurements. Add it to everything: pasta, eggs, sandwiches. Voila!
