I only know about one of these (PLEASE tell me if there is others!!!) but the premise is, this shop lives next to the dump, the volunteers sort through stuff people are about to put in the dump and sell it for cheap, they just make enough to keep the shop running. everyone wins!
this one is LORI near oban, scotland.
I was talking to a friend about how I'm trying to substitute some home goods for sustainable ones from ZeroWasteStore.com and they informed me that we have a local brick-and-mortar that provides the same things! When I told capyboppy and thickrimmedgirl about the recent revelation, they searched and quickly found similar options near them. It seems waste conscious products are becoming increasingly available locally and online. See if you can find a spot near you.
They’re not ’vintage’ or ‘thrift’ stores per se. But Dunlaoghaire and Bray have a lot of second hand charity shops. If you’re crafty and creative you might be able to get some outfits together. And they’re both seaside towns with some nice restaurants.
sounds disgusting but i mean breaking down tasks into itty bitty pieces. to the point where it’s so small it seems silly. it makes things so much easier!!!
finding places to volunteer or groups to join makes me so happy! i always walk home feeling like when you just come out of the cinema and your will to live is renewed. or like this horse.
