This is interesting if you're into global politics; it's a daily email with fairly unbiased reports on things happening all over the world. It's a nice way to hear news on things that don't have to do with America, and it's free.

Heather Cox Richardson sends it out daily with updates on what is happening in Wash DC (primarily). It’s not impartial and she can seem like a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party sometimes, but her letters are informative and concise.

My favorite culture rundown/critique newsletter. The guy that writes them is funny and the newsletters are always full of good links. I click click click to my heart’s content during working hours.

independent, journalist-run newspaper. generally NYC/NY focused so you’d have to look elsewhere for natl/intl they have a great daily newsletter (free) called the “morning spew” lol that provides a summary of a big update and then a list of links to other news stories. i love this because i can keep up with nyc news (which is chaotic) and they explain things pretty well. they have ”rss”, a podcast, and socials too if you prefer ant of those (also they have this awesome page called “The Eric Adams Table of Success” that basically maps out Adams’ corruption lol it’s worth exploring)

I took a writing class that had me write a story from the perspective of an inanimate object. I wrote mine as a pill bottle that watched its owner become addicted to the pills inside it. People wrote about water bottles, curtains, coins... there's so much potential. We discussed "umwelt" and what your subjects' "senses" would realistically be like. Good Luck!
