Chords direct the emotion a song is trying to convey.
Root notes of the chords sort of bring a song together? Idk how to explain that
Rhythm is self explanatory Ofc it goes a lot deeper than this, as does painting and stuff. If anyone is interested in music theory, y'all can check out Adam Neely on youtube
i get what you mean about root notes! i mostly think of that sort of like when artists add one color to all the colors of their palette to harmonize/unify the colors. thank you for the yt rec!
iβm not sure this is eloquent but
i think rhythm = line, because its like the bones of a song. the rest happens within the confines of the rhythm
melody = color because itβs what brings the song to life, its the subject of the song. it colors it
tone = light because the tone of sounds and instruments defines how the melody is being heard and contextualized
As a complete non musician (barring two years of high school viola) with many music friends these are my uneducated two cents. I think these things create the vibe and signature of an artist or composer. Instruments kinda translates to color, the palette you're working with. Tempo sets the vibe, lighting. Lyrics are not always there of course but I feel like they can drastically change vibe so I would include it but I'm sure some people would not.
Y'all ever write a word and suddenly it looks wrong? Like, the word just looks unusual. Then you cross it out and write it again but it's still the same cause the spelling is right but it looks so wrong! And so you repeat, but it remains the same and at that point you're agitated! What the actual fuck is wrong with me!
And so you just ignore it and continue writing but it still bothers you. You look in the dictionary and the spelling is still the same and the word still looks wrong and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.
