widely regarded as the first sub saharan african feature film, it follows the life of a young girl moving from dakar to work for a french colonial family as a nanny. it ended up being completely made in french instead of senegalese wolof because of interference from the french ministry of cooperation and film bureau. i think it’s one of those movies everyone who likes film should see at least once.
