CURIOSITY CABINET is a collectible design piece offering a cosmic reflection on the perception of time.
Encrusted in lapis lazuli, the hard exterior creates saturated patterns of color, interspersed with cast bronze handles, industrial diamonds, cast bronze discs, naturally occurring cubic pyrite, and disc pyrite, sitting on four hand-shaped pyrite spheres.
Each precious mineral is meticulously considered before being hand placed, like swirling brush strokes of a Secessionist painting, creating a sarcophagus for spirits.
Twin doors open to reveal a seductively glowing interior, housing inlaid quartz crystals set into sheets of solid brass, studded with lost wax bronze brackets securing thick tempered glass shelves.
A deeply personal, visceral journey into philosophical and aesthetic investigations through a vehicle of sublime geological expressionism, CURIOSITY CABINET is not for the faint of heart.
The Christopher Boots studio was founded on the principle of “Fiat Lux”: Let there be Light.
Established 11-11-11 through metaphysical and material exploration of quartz crystal, the studio gave birth to creating lighting with a signature aesthetic: exploring relationships between nature, architecture, symbology, geometry, and geology, offering contemporary interpretations of structure, symmetry, and pattern.
All works are handmade with love and care by a diverse team of skilled artisans. Collaborations with glass blowers, bronze foundries, sculptors, metal smiths, and stone masons ensure a commitment to quality, underscoring an investigative sensibility, giving birth to a series of illuminating collections both alluring and unexpectedly visceral.
The studio designs, prototypes, and builds in Melbourne, Australia, honoring traditional elements of form, proportion, and scale, marrying traditional and cutting edge materials with various techniques, creating future collectibles designed for transforming architecture.
The work of the studio has been displayed at Hermès, Rossana Orlandi, National Gallery of Victoria, Parliament House, Cassina, amongst countless private collections in New York, Dubai, Tokyo, Moscow, and Paris. Collaborating with architects, interior designers, and private clients fuels the dialogue between worlds we all transverse.

show du jour... this one must be seen to be believed honestly... atop each flying saucer-like object is a mind-bending mirror illusion that makes it seem like a tiny sculpture is rotating there but actually it is inside. i really don't know how else to describe this!! it is so impressive on like a science/technical level but also the forms themselves are really beautiful and emotional... they are described as ballerinas in a jewelry box... i really loved this!!

Graduated from Duperré School of Applied Arts, Geraldine Gonzalez was a shoe stylist before devoting herself to sculpture. The artist evolves in a world that constantly plays with in-utility object and treasure but where, however, the functional is not absent. The light materials that send back or let the light through are honored : paper, mother-of-pearl, crystal, glitter ... bring her all the desired qualities of transparency and lightness. The encounter with the crystal, which she owes to a Baccarat order, marks a turning point in her work.
From then on, the work borrows from the baroque its fantasy and its preciousness. Each piece is unique, designed and then modeled in three dimensions by hand. His pieces capture light so well that they create a climate of weightlessness. Geraldine Gonzalez lays the groundwork on both sides of carefully defined artistic territories presenting a kinship with unclassifiable artists like Jeanine Janet or Jean Cocteau.
