Every day at some point every member of my nuclear family will send their song of the day, with or without context. Not everyone remembers everyday but it’s a practice we all are getting into and a habit we are keeping semi accountable to. On busy days it’s nice to have the playlist format so I can revisit everyone’s songs in an orderly fashion when I have the time To do so. It’s great for infinite reasons.

Seek out a friend (or two) who is a music freak like you and
 — send each other a song each day (something new you found, something you are listening to on repeat, a mood, a song blasting from a car that drives by that you hadn’t thought of in a long time, a weird song playing at the deli, a song in a movie that blows your mind- whateva tf you wanna share with your friends) — send no more than one song per day/you can skip a day if the mood doesn’t strike/you can send more than one if you beg for forgiveness — start a playlist on spotify to collectively store the songs everyone shares, in a few years (like me) you’ll have a SOTD playlist with over 900 perfect songs on it.

My best friend and I have a collaborative playlist to which we add songs almost daily -- whenever I’m thinking of her she’ll know bc I would’ve already added a song to it!

Let it out , legend. On friendship: have a fart contest! On relationship: maybe they’re into that sort of thing 👀 On family: I think all families at some point smell each other’s farts and I’m sure it’s part of our primordial bond.

This Cy Twombly playlist was particularly good, I also find peace in some Monet playlists. This does also apply to other forms of media, such as authors and influencers, films etc. I watched the Substance and found a lot of European 2000s house music through those lists. I just finished Cookie Mueller’s Walking Through Clear Water in A Pool Painted Black (apologies if it’s not the exact title of the book, I’m not motivated to look it up at the moment) but her lists are full of Nico and The Velvet Underground. If your favorite artists dont already have playlists, make them one yourself!
