i watched the film three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri a few weeks ago (didn’t really like it but that’s besides the point) and there was a a great needle drop of this song during a bar fight and that scene was probably my favourite in the movie i got chills with the chorus going on in the back while they were punching each other 😛

Specifically, In the Shadow of the Valley By Bing Nathan, Don Burnham, Rick Dougherty, and Chuck Aronson.
This twangy, heart pulling classic has been heavy in my current rotation. I live in NYC but am from the Wild West, so this is the perfect jam for my late night commute home on the J. Makes me feel like I just spent a long day hearding cattle in the city (I have). Also, it’s fantastic for a brooding, forlorn 22 year old woman that longs for a love she’s never known with a strong, stoic cowboy.

discovered this song after it came on in the credits for the film the outrun and it’s literally so good
the start literally hooks you with the crazy cool and unique accordion
then the rest of the song is also amazing i love the bittersweet feel of it with the line ‘this is the day your life will surely change’ that most people can relate to when you swear to yourself you’ll break your bad habits to make a better life for yourself, deciding that THIS will be the day youll change but you could say that any day again and again and never actually do anything to change or stick with it
