i think patreon works well if you’re like a podcaster or like do exclusive prints and stuff but like when ur up-and-coming being like “hey if u like what i do or have a request ur welcome to leave a non-binding tip <3” feels wayyy less intrusive

Start by finding a highly rated studio and then look at the artists portfolios- see whose art you vibe with the most and ask about pricing. With those I’ve found some really good people and finally found my go to artist for things because of great experiences in studio. On your first tat ask as many qs as you have and be honest about whether you like sketches or not- they build restencils and reworking into your time with them so speak up then tip well!

I’ve been seeing the art formula of some type of western design + some type of quote blowing up online for months. I follow 5-6 artists that have made their living off of perfecting this. And every time I saw it I thought “Oh I could do that.”
But I never would because that’s not my usual style and I wouldn’t ever want to include that in my portfolio. You know, my super specific & super analyzed portfolio.
And it just got me a few days ago — Why not just try it? And see what it’s like? What if I do it and not include it in my portfolio at all! What if it’s…just…for…fun??? — I stopped taking myself super seriously.
So go and try the thing out. Maybe it’s for you, maybe not. But it might be a lot of fun. I know I loved making my little cowboy below.

Why tattooing over selling prints/ originals? Definitely look into getting some tattoos/ talking to artists. It’s not an easy go of it especially in the economical climate right now
