I’ve always been one of many Bens so it just ended up with me being referred to by my last name, Sinclair. Then one person started calling me Sincl (pronounced sink-l) and I’ve been that way ever since

My last name is really long and often kind of unwieldy, if I call someone on the phone, it’s guaranteed they ask to spell it, so I drop the suffix and that makes things easier. That, and it’s my handle/name used for writing elsewhere.

And I felt lucky that it wasn’t taken when I joined the app. It’s also a signature part of my personality. Embracing my childhood name-call curse for the better. Weird is good!

I have a very traditional biblical name as some of you may know and i was sad that it was entirely un-nick-namable but I think it suits me and my personality now. My parents almost named me Kirsten and I sometimes wonder if I would be different if they had gone with that… and I LOVE when little old southern ladies say my first name and middle name together especially if they preface it with a Miss. my last name is actually too unique, hyphenated, and ridiculously long and was embarrassing to me for most of my life but I’ve found peace with that too and wouldn’t change it for anything 🫶

I have learnt in the last year that if I don’t have at least 1 actual conversation with a person each day I start to go crazy. I genuinely don’t think I could survive being stranded by myself as I’m to reliant on socialising with people.

Completely done with university now just waiting for graduation in July. For those who are interested my dissertation was on how music streaming platforms have individualised how we listen to and experience music

My school did a workshop about it when I was like 10 and I think the amount of care and dedication it takes to hand crafting each and every frame is so cool. When its done well you get a really stylised films, I’m thinking like Chicken Run, Wallace and Gromit, Coraline, Fantastic Mr. Fox, ParaNorman and The Box Trolls all of which I loved as a kid and every time I rewatch them I get the same sense of childlike wonder I did when I watched them the first time. I know there’s a lot of crossover with CGI now when making them but just the concept of stop motion animation is really cool.
