That’s right. You have to be the one to open your home up to strangers. clean out the basement, the garage, the fucking kitchen man, your yard with all the bikes fuck it — make space for your community and it’s music. Enough of this “i wish there was somewhere i could see diy shows :(“ BITCH YOU ARE THE SOMEWHERE. Living in a diy venue for a year now has taught me that spaces like this do no exist on accident. We are intentional, head strong, and determined to make a community worth gathering. Yeah support artists and music, but support local diy spaces. If you always dreamed of seeing MCR in a New Jersey basement or Minor Threat in a backyard, you’re wasting energy on nostalgia when it could be reality. You don’t even have to do it all the time, quarterly, monthly, weekly, it doesn’t matter just invite your friends, strangers, neighbors into your house and throw a fucking rager. To all my fellow diy venues, i love you. Continue partying as long as you can. Especially if you’re a queer space and NOTAFLOF. You fucking rock.

dont know how I’ll do this but I’m determined It will Work. If you steal this- Idgaf , the world needs more community care will include; - free areas to sit/work for a few hours (New York public libraries being closed struck a nerve in me, you shouldn’t have to spend $$$ on coffee and food to write or read or work) - workshops/classes/events on art, language, etc (sports is huge in my area and the arts lack sm funding/spaces for ppl to experiment without insane up charges) - local gardening/working with vendors to reduce food waste and insecurity in the area - plenty of other far fetched ideas that I WILL MAKE HAPPEN

The car simps in political leadership and the enemies of a vibrant, sociable spaces have decided to do away with outdoor dining structures in favor of street parking. There are plenty of reasons to love these ad hoc hovels, designed and built to support once-struggling restaurants and cafes, ranging from the ramshackle to the wonderfully inventive. These photos are an endearing testament to our fellow humans' creative resilience. I'm sad for NYC and disappointed in our leaders for regressing to the status quo instead of embracing communal spaces.

i like to get lost. it forces me to remember that i don’t need a gps to go 5 blocks to that one restaurant. i bike till i feel ”lost” and then bike a little bit more and take a different direction home. i find new parks, new hobby shops, that one weird art installation, graffiti i haven’t seen before, and cool plants everywhere. it reminds me i need to just chill out at take in my surroundings more. disclaimer: i usually do this when i cant sleep and i have a lot of worry in my brain. it helps me leave my phone, distress and connect with my body/space more.
