i didn’t know my name wasn’t actually jillian until i was thirteen
anyways, my legal names aren’t english, my first name is greek and loosely translates to angel and i was named after my paternal grandmother, my middle name is arabic and i was named after my great grandmother on my mum’s side, and then my last name is greek and is the direct translation to an animal
idk i think that’s cool
my name is a map of my heritage, my dad being greek and my mum being iraqi and i think that’s cool

I used to hate my name. My mother wanted to name me Mary (after the Virgin Mary) of all things but I ended up with the name “Thuweiba” because my dad ended up naming me.
Growing up in a predominately white town it was hard to honor it and I hated my name. I even went to visit Somalia for the first time and my family memebers kept asking my dad why I was given an “American” name. This is far from American lol.
My dad’s a history and religion nerd so my name’s pretty archaic. I fucking love it now tho. It’s so darn cool and I’ve never met anyone else with it! ✨

for real though, I've had several names and my deadname and legal name (both different) are not interesting to me or profound in origin. I was gonna be named Avery, which is honestly really cool with me, but another parent they knew who gave birth the same day named their kid Avery first. so they decided to name me something else to be original on the spot. 🍅🍅🍅
so flowers, my current and most recent name... came from a halo machinima series 💀 he was my favorite character and everyone just started calling me that and it really resonates with me as a name of who I am in vibe. it reminds me of some really great times and people I love. when I use it I feel more connected to who I was then and bridging it with now

my name is fairly common, which is unfortunate given that i have a hyper-individuality complex that rules my life
(not a trait to brag about- very aware that i am just like other girls and that is something to be proud of. just a product of being outcasted/coping mechanism).
this was really cool to hear and i think about it a lot. not quite sure what about it hit the mark, but was surely special to me.
