I was looking for something calming to watch and went to back to Rajiv Surendra youtube channel, and he had recently posted this lovely video. Like most of his videos it's very calming and looks at the world with a deep sense of curiosity and respect, and this one felt really special as he engaged so directly with his culture. Also having the opportunity to listen to Indian men from different generations speaking about their relationships with clothes - from the production techinique, dressing traditions and personal style - it was very enriching.

it feels so empowering to walk around wearing ethnic clothes in a ā€˜modern’ city where the standard fashion is deeply influenced by the west. i will always love u, sarees <3 also, this is my mum’s saree, and many sarees are heirlooms passed down in the family. it’s quite literally, wearing your culture, carrying the stories of your ancestors with you! maybe this is why i like thrifted clothes lol

this video essay is superb. so well researched and lots to chew on. this has really made me reconsider what i think of as ā€œwearableā€ pieces in my wardrobe - the everyday items that aren’t costume. and there aren’t a lot of them. i haven’t invested in sturdy, nice basics because i’ve never been a ā€œbasicsā€ person. but getting dressed everyday is getting more and more annoying, and this video really helped me understand why, and to re-consider my anti-basic bias. definitely motivating me to properly invest in my everyday wear! a must watch for freaks who love fashion

I know there are days when you are so tired, or maybe you made a big meal for friends and family or you spent the afternoon meal prepping and now you have to clean like five pots and a tray, but be brave!!! (my inner monologue) Don't force your future self to wake up to a bunch of dirty dishes. It will keep your mind full because you will be constantly reminding yourself to clean that up.

One of the things I like the most about Pi.fyi and the current scale of users is that it's still noticeable when a rec was inspired by another. Sometimes the rec directly mentions the other, but other times you can kinda assume that reading an especific thing here triggered a memory or an ideia. It's very cute and interesting to notice the small influences interacting with other humans online can have.
