okay this can be hit or miss but if I’m out like at a local market, gig or just walking through town there are always cool people around me and if I want to talk to them then I’ll just start with a compliment if they’re responsive that opens up a conversation and if not then you’ve just made their day a bit better! My main advice is just going out more and if someone seems cool TELL THEM!!

I’ve always had struggles starting/maintaining conversations, so when I was in college, I would find something to compliment a stranger on (typically a cashier or someone I had to talk to) because I remembered how good I felt when I unexpectedly got a compliment from someone. When I myself became a cashier at a coffee shop, it was a really nice way to make someone feel good if they looked bored or upset. It also helps with awkward silences. I still do it when I can or when the situation calls for it, and it’s so nice to see people react and smile.

this is A life hack I learned at age 6 when I complimented a grocery store clerk’s earrings and she blushed. Now I implement it every chance I get. People really like when you notice the style choices they made, the small ways they arrange themselves, their nails, jewelry, etc. It feels good to be seen. Feels obvious but true

I feel like middle aged or older adults have such a good sense of themselves, at least from an outside perspective. Everyone I know from family to co-worker to teacher who is within this age range is so easy to describe. Their characteristics are easy to point out and their personality is very clear. I feel like this isn't as true for young adults and teens and especially not for kids. Maybe it's because we're open to changing ourselves more and definition hinders our ability to grow. I feel like this is obvious but an observation non the less.

I’m not at home for most of the day but you can bet when 4pm hits she’s there waiting at the front door for me. I’ve been sick lately and had to lock her out while i diffused essential oils in my room to help with my sinuses. I WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN she was wailing and scratching at my door and the look of joy in her eyes when I stepped out my room filled me with unbearable guilt. I love my cat more than anything on this earth and everyday is a bit better knowing i’m her favourite person ❤️‍🩹

Wanted to share this rather elaborate cake I made that I'm pretty proud of. This is a vanilla sponge and chocolate brownie cake with ganache filling and a hot cross bun gin and tonic buttercream with some cinnamon infused brown butter cookies and tonic sugar shards to boot. The sun hit the sugar perfectly at the time of photographing (:
