I started doing this when I was 30. there is always something interesting born from these images. years from now, I will step away, far enough away to see a pattern emerge from the chaos.

I think it’s such a beautiful idea. I especially love the fact that even though I hate taking/seeing pictures of myself, in ten years when I’m looking back I’ll love the pictures regardless of how I felt I looked in the moment. I always loved going through family photos my mom had when I was growing up and I like thinking about having photos like that for my own kids in the future.

@SAYLOR I love going through old photos too. one thing that struck a chord with me re. your comment is that I also generally dislike photos of myself. but already I’ve started to notice I’ll be looking back at photos and actually perceive myself completely differently than I did in the instance of taking the photo. it’s amazing to see the growth of self-love and be able to look at photo like ten years old of yourself and be like damn girl u beautiful and your body is keeping you alive and that’s beautiful.

Whenever I take a photo of myself I think “maybe after I die someone will go through all my old photos and appreciate I captured this candid moment” but I guess selfies kinda only remain candid if you don’t share them.

FINDING AMULETS
this tiny iridescent butterfly I found outside of the school I pass when I walk my dog I almost kept walking but it was so radiant with magic that I turned around and plucked it from the sidewalk. I reflect on its essence daily Lorde speaks about the concept of amulets in a recent video on Rolling Stone and I feel there is deep power in observing protection and fortune in every day objects, which in many ways can act as a foundation to support authentic artistry
