Thinking someone is interesting and wanting to know a bit of their story is what makes this experience human.
These types of exchanges are boosting the frequencyyyy.
Listening without biased judgement is the most compelling you can be.
I have learned I can't figure out who I am without other people.

this might not all apply to you, but sometimes if I overthink social interactions in general, I end up missing out on what could have been a really good conversation. I usually like to ask myself what Iām genuinely curious about/want to know about a specific person and let my questions lead into a more fruitful discussion. worst case scenario is that donāt take the bait and then the conversation ends, but most of the time I find people like talking about themselves, which can lead to something yāall have in common.
I also donāt put pressure on myself to āmake a friendā after one interaction. some people require crumbs of interactions before they start to let you in!

in the depths of the pandemic i was roasting coffee in a warehouse in sand city, ca, basically in my airpods for 18 months straight, and i listened to thousands of hours of interviews.
the best journalists, podcasters, writers, speakers, comedians, really eloquent folks of all types, all do this. check me on it. sarah koenig of npr / serial fame is the goat, but everyone does it.
reminding yourself to do this is reminding yourself to be present, to actually be interested in being interested. and, it feels good when folks find you interesting, so these people that you are now coincidentally more interested in will also like you more.
