An absolutely bonkers sample library collection that’s been used by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, notably on The Downward Spiral album, for the Silent Hill OST’s and even in Mario 64, and some Zelda games; yeah, wild. Featuring, and I quote “sounds of carnage“ “cosmic warpage” and “surprise chainsaws” - this iconic sample library is still available to purchase on rarefaction’s actual website (www.rarefaction.com) if you’re a music producer looking to utilize it. Theres a listening link at the top to check it out. I like to just throw this on when I’m painting sometimes, to set the mood and channel some chaos.
This synth-plugin has been doing the rounds amongst my producer friends since it was released at the end of last year. It has a pretty radical approach, using Sonic Charge’s “genopatch technology” to grow and unravel synth patches based on a small audio sample. It isn’t really like sampling - it’s a much more beautiful and chaotic hall of mirrors. Pure synthesis has never been easier or more uncanny than this.
Staying up all night connecting dots with the fervent passion of an unhinged genius - like a mad scientist. Notes and references strewn about the living room floor. Making art and making a huge mess.
