it physically pains me when I think about how this movie was poorly reviewed because they didnāt understand that a movie marketed to teenage girls could be a hilarious satire on pop culture, consumerism, misogyny. 2001 critics also apparently didnāt have two ears and beating heart because the songs are incredible. criminally underrated film.

I feel like comic book adaptions are great for this kind of larger than life stuff, with lots of editing and text etc. Natural Born Killers is one of my favourites too and it feels comic bookey at time! This film is one of my all time favourite comfort films. Im so sad that bad promo and sexism in the superhero world made this big dumb fun film flop. itās so fun and cool and girly. imagine what could have been if Cathi Yan had been allowed to continue to direct DC films, maybe weād have an actually good suicide squad?

fave part was Lynne (Iām in love with her), Janey & Jeffās growth, the family dynamics, & Sister Sledge fucking it up on the pole

itās not bed rotting to rest when youāre tired, run-down, or sick.
I can feel where capitalist dogma has seeped into me every time I feel doubt or shame for how much time Iāve spent in bed or doing very little, or the fear that Iāll never be motivated to do anything again. itās not true! inevitably after only 3 days of solid rest I naturally crave activity, projects, organization, work, and not as penance.
rec for rest: screen time of any kind is not the rest Iām talking aboutā¦ weāre talking rest as a monotask.
