esp if you work in an industry you semi-enjoy- you’d be surprised how many people youll find that have insane similarities or the same humor and goals as you. ive met some amazing people and women in my life thru work situations - yes its awkward as hell sometimes meeting new people and crossing that boundary - ive had jobs that I havent made connections but you have to keep yourself open to the possibility🧘♀️ some of my best friends are coworkers stolen for long life relationships
whether it’s your coworker who works in a different team than you but comes over and says hi, or nodding/waving to a neighbor who’s always smoking on their stoop when you go for afternoon walks, or a weekly check in with a friend while you wash your dishes, having people in your day to day who have varying degrees of social placements in your life enriches your human experience…
I’m sick of feeling powerless so my new coping strategy is to not let a stupid system bully me into quiet despair. I’m learning how to use my state’s General Assembly’s online bill tracker and I’m subscribing to email updates for the agendas and the public hearings of the legislative committees I’m most concerned about. I’m memorizing all my legislators‘ names and emailing and calling regularly. Also: Check to see if your state’s Legislative Library has Libguides that explain in layman’s terms what bills are passing in your state and other educational/legislative resources you have freely available to you!!!
