Take a short trip down memory lane to what is kinda still the iTunes Store and buy a movie for $4.99 to have forever and ever. I always have a nice little roster of films to choose from whenever I’m in a pinch, SUCH AS the devil wears Prada, zootopia, a spiderman movie, and the princess diaries 1&2. It beats endlessly scrolling streaming services and searching for a movie on four different platforms. Plus you might find movies you bought when you were 13 still in your library.
Specifically digital movies. Yes, you can rent a movie from Apple/Amazon for $5. But you can also just buy it for about $15—that’s a movie theater ticket. If you don’t like it, whatever, it was a trip to the theater. If you love it, now you own it.
The best way to watch new movies is to get physical movies for cheap! This can be from thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales and nice record stores (reckless records always has criterion collection movies). Paying just a little bit of cash makes you want to watch and appreciate the movie more!
While I’ve made a hobby out of complaining about corporate America and late-stage capitalism, I do appreciate the $6-8 movies that mass movie theater chains offer on Tuesdays. Talking about you AMC and Regal! Heartbreak feels good in a place that doesn‘t break the bank.
my grandmas went to elementary school in Queens together. my parents had no idea and were from different states. incredible women and i am very honored to have their names x
i deleted instagram like three years ago. intermittently on tiktok (like two-day binges every six months). no twitter and nothing else. i love this little app because it succeeds where all the others fail now: in building community. that’s everything IMO. i feel so free everyday and can’t imagine having mainstream social media anymore, between the ads, the people i don’t care about, the pressure, and the whole ickiness of it.
