any song this man makes i love. new song is gunna earworm. i met him once and gave him a rug i made for him of a ‘cow horse’ (he has a song named cow and a song named horse) he’s so kind. endless talent. love him.
i didn't get this alex g album when it came out but now i do. i went to the beach yesterday to decompress and something made me think of the song cross the sea, which i remember as being most people's least favorite song on the album, or at least their least favorite single. i kinda liked it then and i love it now. i listened to the whole album after that and it's the only thing that's been able to cut thru the static recently.
alex g is just so singular. i listened to him a lot during a very bad summer in new york and then right after that he had his weird 15 minutes of tiktok fame and i felt far away from him. that's when this album came out. i think something in me knew i needed him back and i'm glad i can have this album. give it a listen with an open heart.
Alex has instantly become one of my favorite artists. The singer, songwriter and producer with a very familiar last name (Yes her father is Ernie Isley, 1/2 of the legendary Isley Brother) has a unique sound of neo-r&b, funk and soul with a voice and word play that draws me in everytime. Paired with a glass of that Gamay is eluded to earlier, it's over.
had a hard time falling asleep last night, so i made some sleepytime tea (with immune-boosting echinacea!) and managed to finally wind down with the help of MIKE’s latest solo release. his languid delivery has always been a source of comfort for me, and his ability to pack entire lives of emotion into a handful of bars is paralleled only by frequent collaborator, earl sweatshirt. it’s one of his best works, but “snake charm” is a highlight for me :)
get you some app-operated light bulbs and set them to fade on instead of a noise alarm, or wake up with the sunrise.
