what a joy it is to discover this movie again every few years. even now I canāt remember every beat or moment, maybe because that moment when Samantha delivers those numbers is just that heavy.
but the colors, the arcade fire score, the writing: wow! a truly wonderful movie, and so prescient too. when she describes him as the space between words i was delighted to see so many similarities between the OS and the way that LLMs work.

whatās this tender, soft, beautifully color graded dream? I havenāt felt such tenderness in so long and Iāve hardly ever seen something as romantic as this. this movie was so ahead of its time: letting go of love and finding someone new is so terrifying and looking for it in AI is something that is getting realer by the day. itās scary, dystopian, unethical. why did this movie made me not feel any of this? maybe I loved the relationship between Theodore and Samantha because it felt so incredibly human. I resonate with his loneliness, his desires and fears so I think thatās also why I never thought of him as āweirdā, sympathy and empathy can really make you understand anything.Ā
PS: my love for Joaquin Phoenix seems to be growing by the day

just saw this for the first time a few days ago now, and I canāt stop thinking about it. itās so good? the way that joel and clemās dynamic fluctuates so realistically, their general fondness of one another, but also their understanding of each others flaws is so good. AHHHH!!!
anyways, love this movie lots.
