Had it on VHS as a child, and since we didn’t have cable I wore that tape OUT! I think it’s forgotten/underrated in the muppet movie canon, but it’s got great performances by the human actors, by the muppets, and it’s got a great moral about finding yourself and loving yourself for being yourself - Gonzo (who is top 5 muppet for me) is a great vehicle for that message, and it’s just always stuck with me to this day Plus, incredible soundtrack, lots of George Clinton and funk music, cannot be beat
Just finished my annual rewatch. Great performances by Michael Caine and Rizzo the Rat. Aside from the creepy-ass Ghost of Christmas Past, it’s a perfect film. On Disney+, under Extras, you can watch the version with the restored song “When Love is Gone.” It was originally cut by Disney exec Jeffrey Katzenberg and lost for many years.
this is just one of those pieces of lost media from childhood thats randomly stored in my brain next to disney channel bumpers and skits from “now, a word from us kids!” it’s from a croatian animated feature called Lapitch the Little Shoemaker and i really think the visual style and music holds up. they truly did not have to go so hard for a cartoon about a mouse that went straight to VHS and barely anyone would see but THEY DID 😭🫶🏼
A website with a collection of screengrabs from nearly every movie you could think of, and you can sort by film title, director, cinematographer, year, genre, country, etc. Great for visual references for lookbooks, or just to discover a new film you might be interested in seeing! I've attached one of my favorite stills, a great moment from Chungking Express (Dir. Wong Kar-Wai, 1994).
At my local indie cinema for a projection of the new Nosferatu, infinitely grateful I have a place like this I can go to see new stuff and incredible programming!
Just going out and picking up any kind of used physical media (books, CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes) makes the archivist in me happy, like I’m preserving somebody else’s story/ enjoyment of something My personal favorite thing is VHS tapes, I’ve got a decent collection (all thrifted) and they’re usually the cheapest things offered
