public art in particular is suuuper interesting, also art censorship, history of religious art, history of art movements or specific art styles (anything from impressionism to gran fury). or you could dive into specific artists (or even specific art pieces!). i think what’s really cool about it is that art history can be about people, politics, religion, culture as well as the medium itself and the evolution of techniques and styles
art restoration might be an interesting topic to learn about too (but personally i just like watching these videos lol)

Most goated genre of humanities. I took AP Art History in high school and it changed my life; it's just allows you to look at history through the lens of objects that people both owned and used to emotionally process the time they were living in. It's world history, sociology, psychology and visual criticism wrapped up into one. The amount I learned about the inherent nature of humans / humanity in that class is second only to my own life experience.

(not an art history student) i took a course on public art in college and it was so interesting!! i used to not have a deeper interest in sculptures (vs paintings ie) and learning about public art made me really fascinated by it!!
there’s a whole body of theory around it, lots of history and controversies, and research around its impacts. most cities and even smaller towns have public art, whether you live in one or visit somewhere with public art i recommend a quick google to learn more!

i absolutely adore looking at people's handwriting, legible or not. i love neat script and i love chicken scratch. it is personal and intimate because it's your own but also something you picked up along the way from all those around you! the ways i've written f's, g's, a's, and so on have changed over time from observing other people's neat ways to write them. it is so beautiful to be able to recognize someone's handwriting tbh bc it means handwriting holds so much personality. if it's hard to read, i don't care. i'll ask you what it says. i'll pick up the nuances of your handwritten alphabet.

the frenzy of it all, to be tardy by just a few seconds. a shared oopsy shrug. a room full of laughter and love for the new year anyway. ringing up a friend, kissing loved ones on their cheeks. first hugs of the year. two flutes of champagne. scattered fireworks in the neighborhood. no frown on anybody's faces. tonight, everything is warm and hopeful and light. we are so lucky to have this new day, this new life. wishing you all a beautiful and kind 2025.
