new orleans doom metal band I could never get tired of. Vast discography of albums with a sound somewhere in the middle of classic hardcore punk and 90s grunge, including several nirvana, black sabbath, and alice in chains covers. Seen them live countless times and they always knock it out of the park. If you like bands like eyehategod, bongripper, candlemass or electric wizard this could be for you.

Been listening to a lot of Immolation lately… the nice thing about death metal is even the average bands are really satisfying because they don’t need to hammer the point if they hint at it. Immolation, though, hammer it, and have like nine great full lengths. They’re all very fluid and easy, but not showy. Who can explain great art? Not me. But if I remember right they’re based in New York, and the drummer lives in Cleveland and commutes to practice. Which feels like the key to it all.

This is my buddy Kellen's band and it's awesome (imho). We met in high school because we both like metal and I've been following his band for years as a result. If you like old school death metal, I think you'll really dig TGGD. He says new stuff is coming out soon and from the samples of it that he's sent me, it's gonna be an AMAZING record.
