an exhibit at the Morgan Library… I can’t lie I did cry at multiple points, including when I saw her signature and a lock of her hair. my favorite part about museums is the physical reminders of the humanity of history.

- Michaelangelo, Sistine Chapel: You know her, you love her! Especially when it’s summer and you’re absolutely in need of fresh are and so you round the corner to see this diva!! la vita è bella
- Sandro Botticelli, The Birth of Venus: I love the pastels in this so much and the way the hair flows and the shell and just 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 I will laugh every time this is emulated in media!!!
- Kehinde Wiley, Philip the Fair: I saw this at a museum when I was a mess emotionally and it was so beautiful and vast and gorgeous that I teared up!
- Pierre Auguste Cot, The Storm: This is for the yearning and when I see it I’ll year again every time without fail
- Hans Holbein the Younger, The Ambassadors: I love these two freaks and the fun little sneaky third guy!! I learned about this in a history class that I ended up despising bc my brain doesn’t work to memorize dates are u kidding me!! I remember all the paintings and this one was always such a fixture for me
- Artemisia Gentileschi, Judith and Her Maidservant: it’s definitely the theater adult in me that lives and loves Baroque but with that in mind - the lighting in this is so powerful

this summer, we’re starting yoga, we’re learning a new language (being bilingual is now the standard, you need to know at least three to be truly chic), we’re going to concerts just because the tickets were cheap, we’re going to museums (especially the weird ones), hitting up the local library to ask for new recommendations, whether it’s a surprise or based on past tastes, we’re painting, collecting and collaging, sewing and embroidering our clothes, re-learning the harmonica, playing chess with strangers online and at the café, we’re taking up tennis and pretending it’s not just because of challengers. the only way to find what brings you joy is to try.

money can’t buy taste, but it can apparently buy press coverage for your fiancée (now wife) in almost every major magazine and news outlet
however, maybe the famine of beauty amongst today’s tech billionaires will lead some people on social media to get a hobby other than trying to look rich, maybe they’ll even develop class consciousness while they’re at it
