Last night my parents threw a party for their friends 40th and it was called “Amber fest.” Complete with flower crowns, my dads band, t shirts, beer and grilled cheeses. And it was amazing. I think everyone deserves their own personal backyard festival.
celebrated my bday this weekend as a sober (from alc) girl who loves creating and connecting. this was the best birthday (and one of the best days) I’ve ever had ♥️ highlights:
•a homemade disco ball piñata and watching everyone go CRAZZYY on it
•portrait drawing station (30 second eye contact then draw!!)
•surprise vegan oreo cheesecake
•fresh fruit platter (really hit)
•temp tat station
•strawberry and blackberry thumbprint cookies
•lots of joints
•beautiful curated playlist (thx my beaut gf betsyhehe)
•feeling so so loved
•seeing my friends that don’t often create make art and enjoy it!! no judgement or expectations
• ending the night dancing to local dj spinning vinyl
You know in Bridget Jones’s Diary how she had her pals over for her birthday? She made an iconically bad meal of marmalade, blue soup, and caperberry gravy, and they all enjoyed it because they loved her. There’s something so wonderful about setting out to have people over for your big day, cooking a nice meal, including a homemade cake. I love dining out as much as you would think! I also love cooking and baking, being able to pick the music, having everyone in cozy clothes, and sending everyone home with slices of cake. 10/10 i highly recommend doing your birthday DIY at home.
Yesterday was my birthday and I had a chill one. Saw everyone I really wanted to see. birthday pressure and stress is real and I like to minimise that as much as possible in the day itself. I learnt a few years ago that not having the “no one’s going to turn up to my party” feeling on my birthday was the greatest gift to myself lmao. I’m having a big party joint with @CASKEYC next month with all our friends for a big celebration, so the day itself can just be low pressure hangouts with the people I love.
Climbing a tree might be the most healing thing… ever? This was my friend and I’s favorite tree to visit when we lived in MA. We got to see it through all the seasons and hang out on the branches like monkeys. I miss this tree. 10/10 recommend finding a tree you love to come back to and climb all year. Visiting new trees is fun too. Thank you Mother Nature!
