What started as a workout to support weight loss and strengthen my back has become a daily obsession. It’s my version of meditation. You only get one ass—might as well make it a hot one!

my everyday tip for this is to always go heel down when going up the stairs. i unconsciously have been tippy-toeing up stairs/hills for so much of my life and it led to very developed but less developed glutes, i’ve changed the way i go up inclines and it has made a difference. if you’re trying to develop your quads do the opposite ig lol

I’ve started using weights in my workouts to build some muscle and become leaner and stronger :)

I got into weight lifting for the same reason I get into most things, which is pure unbridled vanity. I read or heard somewhere in my many biohacker information channels that weight lifting is the most anti-aging form of exercise, especially for women, and so I was like on my way! I wasn’t about to pay some community college bro $100 an hour at my LA Fitness to train me though so I just googled “weight lifting classes near me” and because I live a charmed and bless life I found the fucking coolest independent gym like a mile from my house and have been going there for almost a year. Vanity aside, it just makes you feel so good all the time. I love watching myself get stronger and I love the feeling after you lift something really heavy you thought you could never have lifted and I love all the neighborhood friends I’ve made there, including former PI subject and possibly coolest girl alive Petra Cortright. (Honestly a large part of my social life takes place there?) Anyway everyone over 30 should lift weights, preserve your waning muscle mass and build up your self-esteem babe.

I work out unclothed in my room. It’s less restrictive than working out in athletic wear, and of course it means I cut down on laundry days. On YouTube I bounce between Caroline Girvan and Madfit. Outside of YouTube my friend Sadie lets me use her Sculpt Society account (I almost called it Pilate Pals). Working out is so addictive–mostly I love to feel strong. I had a phase of using fitness metaphors often and sincerely, but I think that’s behind us now.

I’ve been collecting Jellycats for a while, and yes, I’m a little obsessed. That tiny smile just makes me happy. Honestly, picture a group of adults seriously debating which Jellycat to get next—it’s ridiculous and adorable, and I love every second of it.
