another summertime favorite. sounds a little like when the sun is setting and the lighting bugs come out. i love the little guitar strum motif and the way the song fades out into strings at the end.
Friendship are like one of my favorite bands right now so I am kind of already in the bag for them but I think this album is really good! Its taken me a couple listens to wrap my brain around all the songs but that’s sort of what I like about Friendship in particular. There‘s a certain phrase that gets stuck in your head; a vocal delivery you can’t stop thinking about; a detail in the arrangement that catches your ear, altogether everything adds layers to the song they get you obsessed with different ones at different times. Check it out if you haven’t yet!
Not to let one of my very closest and most favorite songs out of the bag but here goes. The first time I ever heard this song I was driving to Wyoming with one of the best friends a man could ask for. This was two years ago, the sun was setting over the wind river range leaving an orange glow and rain around the mountains. I’d go On to work there for a summer two years later, not in a small part because of that trip and my buddy (and a similar trip with my father 2 years before that). Today back in the Midwest on the commute to my job I don’t really enjoy, 6 hours from my dear friend, In the Shadow of the Valley comes on and i tear up a little. Part of me will always be on that drive, and this lovely song lets me go there again, if only for a few seconds. Happy Friday love your friends while they live close :)
two women next to me on the train are having an insightful heart to heart. a guy behind me is clearly flirting with this girl and you can tell it’s mutual. we all have rich, rich inner lives :)
