Medina’s espresso martini made with Turkish coffee ice cream and cardamom. One of my favorite ones I’ve ever had!! Also a very cool atmosphere and their sister restaurant is right next door.
Other places: obviously all the free museums, especially the art ones are amazing.
Pastis DC is a French restaurant, good food and killer desserts and cocktails (amazing dirty martinis and chocolate mousse) reservations recommended or sitting at the bar is first come first serve. Also great ambiance.
Jinya ramen bar is good, soupy dumplings is a cheap and easy place for soup dumplings and things. You can order at the table with your phone and the QR code at will until you’re done.
Baseball games are fun, even if it’s a cheap ticket.

I’m just going to list out event series that Iļø think are fun in DC:
* the funset at dewdrop inn — it’s like hip hop sunday day party and its so fun if it’s 75 and sunny * for your pleasure at suns cinema - goofy gay oddball disco DJs in a weird cinema with weird movies in the background * NGA nights - both jazz in garden and their night dj parties in the national gallery — super fun * flower factory - gay roof house music party * petworth porch fest — happens early spring and it’s the best day of the year * h street fest - it’s usually too hot but it’s really fun * (self promo don’t kill me) - all your friends at songbyrd. Dj + band indie rock night that Iļø throw * red brick presents - cool shoegaze punk adjacent concerts in cool places (one was in a church!)
Iļø can recommend more places, bars, spots too but Iļø feel like these are more fun and like are easier to find cool people at

My friends and I got takeout from Little Miner Taco (some of the best birria I’ve had) about 10 minutes away from there and ate in the huge Columns. Thereā€˜s a lot to see there and a Bonsai Garden and woods to explore. You can also rent bikes and go down some of the paths. Definitely a good way to spend the day.
Hiraya is a new Filipino restaurant that just opened and everything there is delicious. (I got their pork belly and an espresso martini) The first floor is a breakfast cafe with a huge bakery selection and they turn over to dinner service on the second floor. They have a lot of cool cocktails and there’s some pretty cool bars around them too.
Also this one’s kinda obvious but there’s this app called TickPick, basically stubhub for last min tickets and I saw Maya Hawke and Raffaella at 9:30 Club for $12 not knowing either of their music and ended up having a great time so always worth checking if any artist catches your interest.

I know I’ve ranted about AI before but! Just saw another writer who was doing peer reviews as she was writing chapters with another person; until she found out the other person was using AI for their NOVEL! Blows my mind. She removed this person from her document and sent her a kind but straightforward message about how she won’t be working with her going forward due to the AI usage. I feel like using it for novel writing is one of the most insane uses because #1 this person told me that the AI generated parts of the work weren’t even as good as the other person’s normal writing was. #2 let’s say no one noticed and you published with the AI work, so you would be okay if the book did well but it wasn’t even truly your writing that people would be praising?? Not to mention of course the morality and environmental impact.
Also, I was shopping around today for a custom leather stamp to start stamping the leather journal covers I make. Thought I found someone to make it until they said to send the logo file over and they’ll send back AI created renderings of a mockup to approve. Now I am starting the search all overšŸ™ƒ

Today was one of those bad days where it causes a headache and you feel exhausted from everything, but somehow a nice long walk outside made things seem a little better. Fresh air and thinking or daydreaming while listening to the sounds of outside.
I sometimes find myself taking for granted the place that I live, I work or I’m too tired and I use that as an excuse to not go outside more. Yet every time I get the chance to spend the time outside, I can’t say I ever regret it.
I’m going to make it a goal for myself to try and take a walk outside at least a few times a week.
