I’m gonna be honest, would it be crazy if every now and then I rocked a spider-man mask out in public? Just to give me that extra boost of confidence and energy to get through the day. Stan did say anyone can wear the mask and I feel I may need to channel my inner Miles Morales to get past some of my irrational social fears sometimes lmao
I got the pleasure of meeting Stan once at a mall in Thousand Oaks & he shook my hand, overall he was a real sweet guy. His kindly aura off the bat tells me 100% would approve of you borrowing some of Miles’ courage with a mask.
I haven't worn a headband in ages, but today I threw one on and instantly felt like a different person. I felt like people knew I wasn't a headband kinda person, but I lowkey rocked it. Feels good to switch things up every once in a while.
Dress for yourself, not the crowd. I wore this vintage 70s pink floaty cape with pearl appliqués for the Charli XCX Crash tour and despite food poisoning I still had a blast. I wore my huge clown sweater to see Bar Italia and was the most colorful person in the crowd but felt very much myself. For JPEG/Danny Brown I wore my sonic shirt and mary jane’s and got a lot of compliments on my shoes and was not tempted to go into the mosh pit which worked in my favor. Sometimes I tone it down with colors for smaller local shows, last pic is one of my favorite jumpers that has a ton of pockets so it’s great for concerts. Just be comfortable and feel comfortable and you will be immune to wondering if others around you think you’re cool. My husband and I are going to bladee in october and will no doubt be surrounded by teenagers so I may just bust out the pantsuit for that show.
(First off whether or not you can pull something off or if it’s flattering is is wholly insignificant as to whether you can/should wear it) It immediately puts you a bit out of your comfort zone and forces you to commit to a decision you made and reminds you you are in control and all of a sudden you’re driving the car and know you’re not really somewhere until you’re there and you can make any turn take any exit on your own whim, the same whim that whispered to wear that thing. I need to get writing done today so I’m wearing my bandana David Foster Wallace style (I’ve never read DFW) and I’m reminded I actually can do whatever the fuck I want.
All the good, bad, awkward, ALLLL OF IT. Then siphon through it to see what can be learned and taken into other situations. Get real scientific with it, that’s the fun part.
Very good follow up to his previous album “Hugo” loving the stripped back/acoustic sounds. Feels natural since him and Tom Mish used to work together a lot on records similar sounding.
