Sure, there’s a thrill in spending days trying to get a reservation at the newest spot, spending hours going through Infatuation articles and TikTok reviews to find the perfect menu that would please everyone BUT sometimes you just have to embrace tradition and reject modernity. Chilis, Cheesecake Factory, Benihana, and if I’m feeling fancy Houstons/Hillstone.

I knew I’d eventually make an ode to Chili’s on here but I guess it’s also an ode to good old fashioned casual dining. I could go to the best restaurant in the world, but I’d never forget about Chili’s because Chili’s was there for me first. It wasn’t Nobu, it wasn’t Fogo de Chao, it was Chili’s! Birthdays, graduations, weddings, ANY of life’s milestones can be celebrated in a Chili’s and TRUST that they’ll accommodate. I know what I’m gonna get, I know I’m gonna be full, and I know I’m gonna get drunk all for under $50. A lot has changed in the past 10 years but Chili’s has NOT! 😌

I love trying new places + have a list of places I’m slowly working through. But I’m realizing that tried & true places that have been around for +10 years are still standing for a reason. You’re usually paying a little more $, sure, but you’re getting consistency & quality & ambiance (Balthy at christmas time is heavenly). Minetta Tavern is a classic. The Odeon has its own cult following that’s well worth it. I’m sure places like Don Angie’s have the potential to be there in a decade, but until that happens I’ll be happy with my old fashioneds & nice napkins.

currently over hype, fancy interior architecture, and trendy graphic design—the food is always mid. I just want that regular ass room with some chairs and those textured plastic cups Casino? No. Taiwan Porkchop house? Yes.

The best part about being alive is learning new things. You’re never too old to try that thing you’ve always wanted to. Having hobbies has helped me become more confident overall and make new friends. I recently started taking piano lessons, it’s quite the challenge, but so exhilarating.

Some of the best, most energy-filled conversations I’ve had have been with strangers at the grocery store, while in traffic, and even on customer service lines. Talk to store clerks about their weekend plans, ask the person next to you at the meat counter what they’re making for dinner, see people and be seen. It’s beautiful!!!!!!!!

I love being around my friends, but I don’t always have anything to say or anything I’d like to do together. Nothing makes me happier than a house full of friends where all of us do our separate activities in silence at the same time. Perfect way to connect and feel love, while still focusing on my interests or goals for the day.
