I knew I’d eventually make an ode to Chili’s on here but I guess it’s also an ode to good old fashioned casual dining. I could go to the best restaurant in the world, but I’d never forget about Chili’s because Chili’s was there for me first. It wasn’t Nobu, it wasn’t Fogo de Chao, it was Chili’s!
Birthdays, graduations, weddings, ANY of life’s milestones can be celebrated in a Chili’s and TRUST that they’ll accommodate. I know what I’m gonna get, I know I’m gonna be full, and I know I’m gonna get drunk all for under $50. A lot has changed in the past 10 years but Chili’s has NOT! 😌

Sure, there’s a thrill in spending days trying to get a reservation at the newest spot, spending hours going through Infatuation articles and TikTok reviews to find the perfect menu that would please everyone BUT sometimes you just have to embrace tradition and reject modernity. Unconventionally not intended as one, but as capitalism has started to fade out the true definitions of free third places, I care to add that Wawa with seating outside, especially in smaller/ southern areas, act as a third place.
My friends and I often have to make third places out of what isn’t. I’ve studied in Chili’s. Country (Florida) girls make do!

In college I went to the same Mexican place every day for a burrito, got the same coffee at the same Dunkin’ Donuts every morning
Years later im in a new area following the same philosophy, I eat a chicken bruschetta wrap at the same place every time I go out for lunch and still get the same coffee at the same local Dunkin’ Donuts every morning.
I frequent the same full service gas station, go to the same mechanic, Kevin, buy groceries from the same local mart, get my hair cut by the same barber, buy any and all hardware misc from the same little hardware store, Jeds.
When your order gets prepared the second you walk in, and you have a relationship with your daily’s, your life is in a better place.

It bums me out whenever someone's trying to say something but cuts themselves off or says "nevermind" because they assume that they're wasting time. Think it through, or let it come back to you. 3 years ago, I started saying, "Talk through the thought" with my friend, and I think it's made me more patient, and I've ended up hearing/saying some cool shit (or at least some funny shit) that I would've probably missed out on otherwise.
