Make you remember how beautifully complex, abundant and mysterious the natural world is and how we're just a small part of it. It's like Wikipedia-surfing irl I visited my local one yesterday, strolled around the permanent exhibition, looked at the current photography show and bought a couple of owl postcards on my way out. It's probably my favorite local museum because of how old-fashioned it is - no screens, just printed text, quiet atmosphere, very beautiful old building. It was so relaxing and soothing for my head

When a museum is old and antiquated it becomes a museum museum- you can enjoy thinking about how it used to look and think about how people saw things way back when. The Natural History Museum in Manhattan is an obvious example of this. Old taxidermy dioramas of scenes in nature, wood grain everywhere… I wish I could only go to museum museums

The taxidermy, scenery and landscape paintings are incredible. As is the rest of the museum, which until this last Sunday I hadn’t been to since I was a kid. The place makes you feel very small and temporary, in a good way I think. I saw wolves hunting, moose fighting, a rabbit hiding, the bison walking on the Great Planes, became sad they were gone, and thought about Holden Caulfield.

Made by Cornell Lab of Ornithology It is both a birder handbook and an incredible tool for identifying birds from pictures, sounds and step-by-step questions. I enjoy learning more about local birds in my area or when I travel. It is completely free and without ads

Still relevant, still appreciated, amen
this is worthy of celebration: the lack of video—autoplay video, noisy inane video, panicky video, algorithmic, dumb video, rabbit hole video, any video—on pi.fyi is a good thing
