honestly this feels like shitty advice but there's no other way to put it... I moved continents to go to university without knowing a soul in the place I would live - and I managed by basically pushing myself to going to every university event that was going on (freshers week, night outs, etc), talking to as many people as possible and barely staying in my dorm.
it was absolutely terrifying. both moving and trying to make friends. but I wouldn't change the experience and the life I've built for the world. you grow so much out of it.

I used to try so hard to reinvent myself and it drove me absolutely crazy trying to be something that I wasn't. Just be open to new experiences and people and push yourself out of your comfort zone a little after you leave. Both leaving the place that you've been comfortable in and gradating high school are big changes and they will already kickstart the process of finding yourself. If you're open to it, you'll absolutely find yourself even if you don't realize it in the moment. You've got this!

moving here can be really hard!!! my first year or two was extremely difficult but i eventually found my footing. i recommend staying open to possibilities but also being selective—there is sooo much to choose from here that new things are often worth trying but you also dont have to waste your time on things that feel untrue to you. it's all about finding the balance ^___^ seek out what interests you and dont be afraid of taking risks!!!

this year has been all about getting ā€œout thereā€ for me. since i’ve been doing concert photography more, i’ve come to realize that it really never hurts to ask - even if the ask seems outlandish at the time. if the opportunity doesn’t open itself up to you, then it wasn’t meant for you anyways!
i am someone who deals with imposter syndrome quite a bit, and i’ve had to come to realize that i have to do the scary things in order for me to achieve what i want to (and to make them not so scary over time)!
this applies to relationships as well, but i’m not so much focused on that in this particular phase of life as i am on my hobbies/career.
anyways: DO THE SCARY THING. ASK THE SCARY/CRAZY QUESTION. YOU’LL NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DON’T TRY. DON’T LIVE A LIFE OF ā€œWHAT IFSā€!
(this is aggressive bc i’m mostly trying to remind myself of it)

it controls our lives so much I think we forget that it’s actually in a little box of glass and metal and that WE are the ones who use it, not the other way around.
i wanna turn mine into a photo album, reclaim the purpose of it as a place to just share photos of nice moments whenever I feel like it. Fuck social media anxiety these are just little icons on my phone so who caressssss

prioritize seeing friends and family over your to-do list. since I live in another country, I learned to do that anytime I have a chance.
do I have this really important thing I need to do for uni? yes. will I do it? after lunch with my grandma and coffee with my friends, thank you very much. they might die, and my work unfortunately cannot.
