Watched it last night and everything about it surprised me. It’s so goofy and so terrifyingly sad without any tonal inconsistences, all while maintaining a constant speed of 700 mph. Even at 4 hours long it doesn’t give you time to blink. There’s nothing in the universe, I think, that so totally encapsulates the feeling of Beethoven’s Allegretto when it’s so loud it’s in your bones. It’s not for everyone, but I’ve never seen anything else remotely like it in my life.

watched this last night and it blew my mind. just 80 minutes of pure adrenaline. feels like it was edited by somebody on mdma and acid at the same time in the best way possible. the soundtrack goes so hard too

Also the rest of the movie is an impressively bonkers trip. Camera work, production design, and editing choices all blew me away when I watched it.

i’m not sure if the brutalist was actually as good as it felt- but i’m a sucker for an experience, and seeing a movie in 70mm at the music box with my very own mr.movies (josh), was a soul salve I didn’t know I needed. and WOWEE KAWZOWEEE what a freaking credit sequence?? the SYNTHS? the BOLD TYPOGRAPHY? i’ve been playing la bionda’s “one for you, one for me” every day since.

About 20 years ago the guy from Mount Eerie and the Microphones used to make these weird little comics and I’ve never forgotten them. The Dog Trouble one has always been my favorite but every McDonalds run I’ve ever made triggers the medium pepsi neuron.
