this season made me sick. from multiple contestants being booted from the show for using racial slurs to the wild misogyny on full display (with few people clocking it) and the irresponsible producers choosing violence at every turn, my summer distraction show had me losing sleep and resenting this horrid country. thank god i can finally go back to my actual comfort shows on Dropout TV

🏝i have been a long-time watcher of this ridiculous show, and LI UK combined with Ru Paul's Drag Race really helped me get through covid times in 2020/21 in general.
this summer, i have been watching the USA franchise on the urging of a friend. it's CRAZY and chaotic and entertaining, and for a while nothing seemed to be happening in the UK version in comparison. But i've come to realize the USA version genuinely stresses me out. i'm american, but i hate the way americans act and communicate as a generalized/homogeneous whole. i love the brits and their self-deprecating, cultural-specific gender expectations and slower mode of moving. it's still toxic ofc but i can distance myself from it and tell myself i will not encounter men like this because they have a way different accent (pleasant delusion!).....LI UK, you are my first true reality tv love, and i'm sorry i ever doubted you

genuinely have no one to talk about this with but what is love island US on 😭😭 genuinely do not understand the point of having the audience vote for people that the contestants must choose to vote off like…it’s actively making it impossible for people to make connections cause they keep getting split up. charlie anddd hannah are gone (i feel sooo bad for her), and then jeremiah right after he got out of the toxic situation like im so maddddddd episode 18 just pissed me right off like no one’s able to make an actual connection cause their partners just keep getting voted off basically 😭😭 also WHY is huda still there come on yall we cannot be watching the same show and ending up with jeremiah gone and huda still there…im so pressed

after five years of grad school and subsequent job search, i can finally say i have successfully changed careers 😭 i start my new job counseling kids at a community mental health clinic on Monday. yesterday was my last shift at the grocery store that was an escape from my horrible corporate job and a sustaining force throughout grad school. it’s so bittersweet to leave the sweetest coworkers i’ve ever had and the most fun i’ve had at work. it’s immeasurably healing to quit a job for only good reasons. my coworkers got me a cake, everyone wrote notes in a card, and the goodbyes throughout the day made my heart swell. i even got to tell the good news to my favorite instacarter 🥺 after i clocked out for the last time, my friends joined me for gelato at the cafe and we strolled the store for a final time, this time as simply a loyal customer.
