It's not country it's just great, versatile Canadian songcraft that is very under-appreciated. The album is gorgeous. This is someone who's obsessed with The Fall, Felt, and The Go-Betweens, and 12" extended mixes. But it's so uniquely its own thing.

Sweetheart of the Rodeo gets all the well deserved love, but this album, which came out right before, is my favorite. It’s the band’s first time embracing country music, but they haven’t quite left the psychedelic era; they’re in a state of transition.
The album glides by like a series of daydreams— of laid back mornings and acid-eyed evenings, fading romances, pastoral fantasies and whole lifetimes circling back on themselves.
Beautiful harmonies, unique guitar tones, strings, pedal steel and Moog synth contribute to an atmosphere not found in the work of their contemporaries. It might be one of the last great 60s psych records, but it is also the beginning of soft rock, of dream pop, and alt country.

🎵I just joined a few days ago as my friend Chloe recommended it (she also wants a mug). I find it neat like early Tumblr -or MySpace which I loved until it stopped loading and felt forced to join the cold and creepy Facebook which kept on getting creepier and creepier and then made Instagram creepy too. I have been finding the internet really nasty lately what with AI, Twitter, Spotify, and all these techie supervillains running about. This does feel nicer.
