my parents only had flip phones (and I remember the day they got them), I was always outside, the neighbors’ kids and I would talk through a fence when we were bored. Zero understanding of what the internet was and the only tv I watched was the electric company and schoolhouse rock.

No iPhones No Facebook No social media No "apps" Cameras on phones didn't exist or were just silly CDs still dominated - mp3 players had just come out and Apple didn't have a chokehold yet Little adult supervision, in real life and on the internet
Honestly it was kinda great ngl

I wanted to get a vintage flip phone to use on my days off, and ended up discovering that 2G and 3G service is basically obsolete within the US. Luckily, I found a cute phone that runs on 4G and even made some cute trinkets for it. I leave my iPhone at home during my morning walks, and on my days off, I’m only on my burner. I thought I needed a vacation until I started using my flip phone - 10/10, would recommend. Why the flip phone? There are countless reasons. I think about this experiment often.

eventually i got an ipod touch when i was old enough but that little $10 mp3 was my LIFE. I learned how to navigate the internet/lime wire too young just b/c i wasnt trying to pay for anything. Occasionally I would buy CDs of my favorite albums and rip them <3
