Essentially responsible for killing the YA dystopian genre. The third movie is specially bad to look at, but this one is my favorite and I could watch over and over again.
I'm an old dude but picked up the book when it came out, paperback version, and LOVED it. The first movie, as you mentioned, is quite cool, but doesn't hit the same as the world I built in my head while reading the book. I prefer YA to other genres, not sure why!
@MINT_OCTOPUS I loved the book but totally lost respect for the franchise when the third movie came out 🥲 this is the only one I can watch with a straight face. Also, it just serves me to say I was on Theo James way before he got famous from TWL😎
Baffling, bad to look at, and not even a good adaptation of the book it's based on... but I don't care, it still rocks. It's one of those movies where the potential was well within grasp. It could've EASILY been a solid movie, and kicked off a decent franchise. It's tragically funny how bad they fumbled it. (I'd chalk it up to unfortunate timing. I think they JUST missed the YA dystopian fiction movie craze. It was ahead of its time😔) ..... and, uhm... on second thought, maybe it's not SO bad to look at. Seeing how Timothy Olyphant is in it, and all🥵😳.
The trailers made it look so steampunk so I was afraid but it was actually so amazing. It's second best to me after Catching Fire. But I also watched so many bad reviews of it afterwards that I'm second guessing my perception and judgement
