Duolingo was once great but in 2025 sucks bad. Mango is available free with NYPL library card (probably others as well), is downloadable and has no ads. Iām using it to learn Italian.
I recently discovered that this is offered completely FOR FREE by my local library and Iāve been using it basically every day since then!!! Itās not perfect (personally I donāt like the fact that itās 90% flash cards), but I normally take notes and supplement that with looking up words on WordReference and googling grammar concepts I donāt fully understand. They have a TON of languages available ā definitely go check and see if your library offers it or another language learning resource!!
The only slice shop you should hit if youāre anywhere near Gramercy, Kips Bay etc. Scarrs/Lāindustrie level slices on a random scaffold-hidden midtown block. Plus the Pacman machine is turned on free mode š„
Embrace the rule of law and society. Old people in the crosswalk will frequently thank you and youāll feel superior to all the PPOS š·running the light and cutting people off. Plus the lights come in waves so youāll probably catch up anyway.
