Not necessarily a rec, more a vent about a conundrum i come to every weekend that i decide to stay in; i could do something that i could only do on a weekend because then it’s 5 days of prison following, or i could not do anything for 2 and a half days, and delve into my lil hobbies
approximately twice a year i think you need to call in sick and get a little reckless for a few days. get out of your comfort zone, make some questionable decisions, and then spend your Sunday completely rethinking your selfhood and priorities as you attempt to set your life back in order before Monday dawns
back when i basically was only doing things on weekends, i think it subconsciously made me feel like… weekdays are ONLY work and weekends are only fun. so then the majority of my week was Work Days. which is technically true still but planning things on weeknights (both solo stuff like a class or self-care thing, and social things) make me feel like i’m reclaiming the free time i do have on my weekdays lol. rather than just going home and blanking out. my job is stressful so i def do need days to just do that but since i started intentionally making plans throughout the week instead of just fri-sun it has made a difference for feeling like my life is less absorbed by my job
as i scroll on this app i go to comment and ask the person oh what’s the movie about? or where is this restaurant you’re recommending? or what is a campari soda and where the hell do i get it. but i can just google all these things! hmph. a conundrum. there’s something to not googling it and learning from someone else. i avoid going to the internet during a convo for this reason
I've been using the Light Phone 2 for 9 months, and it completely alters your lifestyle. Be prepared to be bored in many random situations. If you live in a city, it can be frustrating as so many things have instant access to emails and QR codes integrated into the infrastructure. I keep my iPhone for random stuff. If I had to get a new dumb phone, I would go with the Mudita Kompakt, or the Light Phone 3 but the price is steep on LP3. If anything, just grab a Motorola flip phone for $25 and leave your smartphone at home as much as you can for a month. See how it feels!
