it's in the form of a graphic novel and it is one of the most devastatingly beautiful memoirs i've read.
small's drawings have been a hugeeeeee inspiration for me ever since i first read the memoir; i try and revisit it as often as i can because it's left an indescribably huge impact on me both as someone who was once a child, someone who is now an adult and someone who is an artist(but doesn't necessarily like calling themselves that i guess).
Crying in H Mart I read it a few years ago and it has stuck with me. Absolutely beautiful and poignant. Highly recommend. Just Kids was the book a bunch of my friends and I read in our early 20βs and in art school. Patti Smith is a legend, always and forever.
i feel much more comfortable posting here, talking about the things i like, interacting with people and posts, it just feels more comfortable and free- i feel more like myself and that it's okay to be myself, i don't have this pressure that everything needs to be kinda "curated" in a specific way or "image" which is something that i felt with for example instagram. i like the sense of community here better than on other social media and i like the fact that it just feels much more creative on here than other apps( creative as in, the app itself, myself and other people).
