I’ve been picking my way through this.. Shakespeare is hard and not really a good thing to be reading when you’re out or at work, but if you can dedicate a bit more brainpower and time to digesting it, I’ve loved it so far. Always felt that he was really hilarious in a way that still holds up and that is certainly upheld by this play.
Shakespeare plays always have great annotations and forewords to help make sense of them too, so definitely look for one of those volumes.. my edition is from Folger.
I also picked up the Stereophonic script which is *huge* due to the massive amount of dialogue which often overlaps. It was also like a 3.5 hour play so there’s that too.. not sure if I’d rec this one but I wanted my heart ripped out again so I had to get it

I love love love this one. My 10th grade teacher really broke it down for us and we all ended up actually laughing and having fun. It’s such a great ensemble comedy

I’ve been enjoying reading plays! They usually have lots of dialogue so (depending on the play) they are generally super easy and quick to get through. I was skeptical at first but there are some good ones out there!

Two plays in and enjoying it!! I am not well versed in plays but they touch on themes of being an artist in a somewhat surreal manner that is unique to me. I think I will be reading more plays, such a great format & good for lunch breaks.

most of them r from diaries so they're short and barely even tell historians about the play... imagine someone using letterboxd to try to understand what ppl thought of a movie and all they see is "my favorite part was paul mescals thighs" 😭
this is your sign to be annoying and write everythinggg about the movie u watched!! its for the historians!!

My god everything is experienced better this way. Stop looking at guides, walkthroughs, endings explained (my least favorite), even the blurbs on the back. Such a rare opportunity in this time to go into something without knowing anything about it, yet so rewarding. To be pleasantly surprised or blown away, to have no idea what’s happening, to find that you really didn’t like it, an opinion formed on your own.. nothing is more valuable
