he’s normally a reserved, quiet guy, but he gets chatty and animated when he tells stories of his childhood, and it’s literally the best thing. it makes me emotional seeing him emotional, and even more emotional that he won’t be here forever.
I enjoy listening to my dad’s favorite music from when he was a teenager. Imagining him listening to all his favorite hair metal bands on a cassette player, reveling in his teenage angst makes me feel closer to him.
This has strengthened our relationship so much and his lore is always insane. Dads always be doing the most random shit, but no one ever asks them about it. Since i've been asking my dad more about his day to day he gets so excited to tell me about all of the random things he's trying and learning. It's precious.
I’m so happy and grateful to have grown up with a dad who taught me to love books, movies and music - when i was a kid he would wake me up every morning by singing a song from singing in the rain as i’ve gotten older i’ve loved being able to discuss all kinds of media with him (and being able to steal books from his collectio)
