danielson family's shows used to be drastically different (they haven't played in ages) and had this sense of musical exploration + childlike earnestness + new costumes + super heartfelt playing that was catnip for me. probably seen them maybe eight times?
Boredoms, same--every show a different flavor of controlled chaos and new sounds/patterns for the ears and brain. maybe saw them four or five times.
if you walked into my room at any given time between ages 12-16, this was 1000% on my screen. or ahs murder house.
thats not an exaggeration: this stupid little film was my way of life for years and years and years, my comfort watch. its a classic that every emo kid has seen, surely, but i am certain that no sane human could possibly NOT respect/enjoy it even if you arent emo/never fw them. a concert divided into two acts with a full fucking circus on tour with them. full burlesque dancer breaks and an intermission. most impressive of all? bassist (jon) is the oldest in this clip at like 21 i think? brendon urie was 18, ryan ross 19, spencer 16. so brilliant it blows my mind every time
My first concert *period* was a concert I performed in for the summer rock camp I was in. I was 13 and I played bass. My first concert as a spectator was this Danish pop/rock artist that I went to with my hs girlfriend. I didn't vibe with it very much, which is probably why I can't remember her name.
my friend and i saw them in boston in april 2024 and WOW. i was already familiar with the band and liked their music, but seeing them live absolutely blew me away. plus we were so close to the barricade. it was fantastic.
not a month goes by that i don't think about Rahsaan Roland Kirk performing live/unedited on television playing multiple saxes at once and destroying folding chairs. (WNET)
