i used to want to spin the decks at parties so bad caused it seemed really fun and i can’t play any instruments or hold a note. i also wanted to be a president, a venture capitalist (read my dad’s copy of rich dad poor dad ijbol), a pilot, an architect and a judge. when i was applying for uni i seriously considered doing african studies cause it’s super interesting to me but i didn’t want any of the career prospects so i was also hoping to be a forever learner. unforch nowhere in the uk does it for undergrad and my parents would never in a million years have paid for me to study in america especially not for what i had in mind.
weird thank you so much! yeah i’m in 2nd year of doing biomed lol. i would never have chosen it myself but i absolutely love it now, i’m actually taking next year out to do a paid internship studying viruses. i’m considering a masters atm but haven’t made up my mind. i’m not gonna be a forever learner in a strict academic sense of getting degree after degree but i never ever wanna lose my curiosity. what about you, did you end up becoming a mediator?
tiff i didn’t end up a mediator in the professional sense, but i am definitely still a peacemaker. i work at a startup as the sole creative team member, so i do a little of everything including pointing out the dysfunction in the startup world within my own company. truly a rat in an electrified maze just looking for some cheese. but! i find joy in making things in my daily life. i crochet, paint, make jewelry. fill my sole outside of the 9-5.
hana_u my ass really wanted to be a fucking landlord 😭 and using tenants money to invest in startup businesses like on dragons den when i was maybe 12 ☹️
i OBVIOUSLY don’t have #those sentiments anymore
It’s a fun side gig, I learned how to DJ from going to balls and learning from my friend who walked balls and modeled too
I don’t do it anymore bc networking with limited social media can be difficult, club culture can be very reliant on trendiness or marketability, lots of narcissism + nerdiness alike, in the states at least coke is everywhere and ruins the fun bc of massive egos…. I wanna jump back in despite the negative aspects
aidanaguirre that’s a really sick way to learn how to dj. i’d love to go to a ball one day fr. towards the end of lockdown i started messing with fl studio and garageband for music production and and i’m hoping it‘ll make it a bit easier to learn. starting my research into good beginner software and hardware so k can really get into it.
taterhole all the lives i could have lived… something that reoccurred to me a while back was that i can still do most of these things. i can get a pilot license, i can read papers about african cultures, i could get architectural software and just design buildings and stuff. there’s still so much available to me if i’m still interested which is nice to remembe.
tiff also like I was never able to go to clown school but I WAS able to cultivate a yoga practice and become so flexible and actually pretty athletic and strong
i wanted to be so many things as a kid/
a race car driver
a fashion designer
a painter
a singer
a actress
literally from age like 6-11 i wanted to be all these things i literally just wanted to have a good time all the time haha
First when I was about four I wanted to be a standup comedian, then I wanted to work with Greenpeace, then I wanted to be a novelist, then I wanted to be a Broadway star but I have literally no ability to dance, then I wanted to be a clinical psychologist. by high school my grades were tanking because I was skipping school a lot and not turning in any work and I saw Cirque du Soleil Quidam and wanted to move to Montreal and be a circus clown despite having no athletic skill. Then I wanted to be a hand model which is what I would tell my school guidance counselors when they would angrily ask what I was going to do with my life. Would have said a regular model but I’m short so I wanted to be realistic but now I am a hair model (not as a career) so that’s fun. I think I’ve made out pretty well for myself for a girl with no direction…
i remember being deeply obsessed with robots when i was 5/6 and i was like waiiitttt i could totally make robots… mainly cause i thought wait this is like toys but better…other transient profession ideas i had included working at the cash register (not just generally in a store but specifically that), hairdresser, “professional activist”, athlete (unspecified), a higher-up in an insurance company, screenwriter (included a detailed plan of moving to hollywood and establishing myself in the industry), theoretical physicist, perfume maker, and journalist. now im studying biomed 🫦. i only got interested in biology in 8th grade when we got a better teacher which just really goes to show how important good teachers are!!! i wanna get a phd in immunology or virology now 🤓
crush texted me and i said hell yeah nigga we up really loud and i saw my supervisor look very taken aback but i luckily have my camera off so i’m gonna lie and blame my brother
