another semi-lost 2000’s underground artist. signed to ninja tune and made some of the wackiest folk music you’ll ever hear before disappearing for a very long time. so it’s super ambient and spacious but it also uses sampling and turntableism but it’s also sprawling and often times foregoes song structure. but it’s so beautiful

it's so foolish of me - dexter webb

here's a completely under the radar gem of weirdo bedroom folk pop filled with bubblings of synths and fluttering flutes and random eclectic acoustic instrumentations, fragments of hooks and choruses, digressions into distortions and reemergences of natural ambiances with waterfall sounds, harps, xylophones, all mixed together in such a wonderful and fascinating way and i've been obsessed now for months... it sounds to me as if daniel johnston in his prime had access to a DAW.

Watching every single feature film directed by Aki Kaurismäki

The undisputed king of deadpan comedy in cinema. Every movie is a darkly hilarious little gem and they usually clock in at less than 80 min so they’re easy to watch. They’re also surprisingly sweet most of the time—if you’re into that sort of thing—and he was just nominated for an Academy Award—if you’re into that sort of thing—for Fallen Leaves. It's great. If anyone’s wondering, my personal favorite is Ariel.

A mind-bending, soul-stirring banger from power duo Powell & Pressburger. Its unique narrative structure and the fearless creativity with which they bring it to life at 24 frames a second is a little bit astounding.
