majestic casual — i‘ve always liked the songs that play in zara (hahaha) so i’d type the lyrics on google or youtube. that‘s when i started discovering majestic casual, and that opened me up to a whole new world of artists and other music platforms (cercle, boiler room, etc.) spotify — i listen to my Discover Weekly and my favourite artists’ radios. i also check if brands, groups/communities, festivals, people (actually anything under the sun!) i like have playlists, like Oliver Peoples, Unknwn.Mnl, Sporty & Rich, FIFA, etc. i’m also a fan of all kinds of genres, so i get to discover a lot of old and new music. i make monthly playlists and listen to the suggestions that are prompted by the app music festivals — i follow a lot of festivals like wonderfruit in thailand, fuji rock in japan, glastonbury in the uk, primavera in spain, etc. and i check out the artists parents — my parents, especially my dad has good taste in music. my dad, especially when we’re kids, would play a lot of his favourites which me and my sisters enjoyed. it’s become so reminiscent of our good childhood ☺️ right now my #onrepeat is blame by elado 🐚

- spotify afterplay radio. pretty good still though worse than it once was - NTS radio. my fav - having friends with good taste send you shit or tell you to listen to shit - going to the discog of an artist you like and listening to an album you haven’t checked before, especially artists new to you - my dad is old and has incredible taste in 60’s-80’s stuff so he’ll send me shit randomly or i’ll ask him

These aren't curated playlists, they're just a collection of any new songs I discover and really like, or old songs I re-fall in love with. I then give each playlist a name that references how I feel or an event that happened that month. I was in a similar place to you a couple of years ago, but I've found doing this really helps me track my tastes and experiences every month, which I find is quite helpful in our streaming-dominated musicscape. When I used to actually download songs, it was easy to scroll through my library and be reminded of artists I'd forgotten about or had only listened to a couple of times. I've found that with streaming its really easy to lose track of who you listen to and enjoy, so it really flattens everything and causes you to either rely on the algorithm or your go-to past artists. As far as discovering new artists goes, there are still a few reliable sites and publications that review new albums (paste, gorilla vs. bear, pitchfork (sort of), etc.). I also like following or signing up for email newsletters (gasp!) from specific indie record labels that I enjoy. If you like several artists on the label, then chances are you'll like more, and they always notify you when something new is being released. Same goes for local venues. Check out the small stage acts coming through or various openers, even if you don't actually make it to the show. This is also a great way to get plugged into the local scene and it keeps you young, sort of.

i love disposable cameras and film cameras but i find them hard to use. so i opted for a paper shoot camera ❤️ 1. i can get that film effect without having to develop film 2. it’s more environmentally friendly, since you’re not disposing cameras and films. there’s an sd card so i just need to plug it in my laptop 3. lessens my phone addiction lol 4. cute, customisable cases and very handy to bring everywhere because it’s so small and compact 5. shoots video and timelapse
