The best work of fiction (inspired by truth) that I’ve ever read. Yuzuki writes with such nuance x rhythm, against a backdrop of absurdity, womanhood, and FOOD. Dream. There’s some sort of pendulum of truth and lies that speaks to the human experience so masterfully.
I love love love this story and the way the author explored the topics of gender roles/relationships, women’s bodies, and loneliness. such an intimate book and I love her writing style, wish I could emulate that sort of intimacy in my writing too!!!!
dystopian novel, a smog has settled over the planet and mostly all crops and animals have been wiped out. ppl live on a mung bean protein flour. a chef gets hired at a tech entrepreneur’s private compound in Italy where she’s able to indulge in all pleasures she’s been denied for so long… but isn’t able to find the desire…. at first ;-) lots of lush descriptions of food and sex (i’m rly reading a lot ab these two things lately….hmm), and themes of power, privilege, belief, and DESIRE!!!……..
Such a quiet healing book that brings calmness and hope. Short and easily read at night-time for good dreams Would appreciate book recs like this one P.S. Alas Honeydome cookies by Kuremiyado aren’t real. I would love to buy them and reuse the tin just like the librarian
